While the focus of our work is on our membership, our communities and the ecosystem at large, the following institutional priorities are critical to strengthening our ability to deliver on our mission.
Governance renewal and onboarding
In 2026, we will hold elections for several key positions on our Board of Directors, Nominations and Governance Committee (NGC), and Advisory Board, with the final slates presented to the General Assembly of Members during the Philea Forum in May.
The Philea team will ensure smooth onboarding of the new governance members, in close cooperation with continuing members of our governing bodies.
We’ll organise an in-person induction for the new Board and NGC which will include the cultural dimension of Philea as a caring, learning and resilient organisation – something that has always been fundamental at the level of the governance of Philea.
Financial sustainability
After a challenging period resulting from the combination of the pandemic, the convergence of Dafne and EFC, and the cost-of-living crisis, efforts must continue to strengthen the financial sustainability of Philea. The approach will consist of a continued effort around:
- Membership: Growth of the total number of members; stewarding of our generous (core) funders; keeping members on board through attention, care and engagement.
- EU funding: 2026 will see the implementation of the first year of the 3-year operating grant under the CERV programme.
- Review of funding model: In line with the Riga Commitments, the Philea team and governance will review our funding model as a way to create a stronger, more agile, and more strategic organisation, responsive to the challenges of our times.
Alignment of resources and ambitions
In 2026, we will:
- Build stronger synergies across siloed initiatives to “do less better”.
- Continue to carefully manage our resources, supported by a gradually strengthened back office and a planned revision of our funding model.
- Continue measuring our impact through the perceived value of our work by carrying out systematic evaluations and quarterly KPI reporting.
- Improve our IT systems to achieve the clarity and efficiency our work requires.
- Keep our core funders closely connected to developments, as they bring in the critical flexible funds needed to navigate complex times.
First full year of Transnational Giving Europe at Philea
Transnational Giving Europe is a network of foundations in 19 countries that enables donors – both corporations and individuals – resident in one of the participating countries to financially support non-profit organisations in other Member States, while benefiting directly from the tax advantages provided for in the legislation of their country of residence.
At European level, it is considered to be the only practical and secure solution for tax-effective cross-border cash donations. In 2025 it moved from its long-time host, the King Baudouin Foundation, to Philea. 2026 will mark the first full year of Transnational Giving Europe at Philea, with full integration into the organisational structure.
